MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (12-14-2007) - Kristy Brandolini, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s soccer team, is featured in the December 17th issue of Sports Illustrated in the "Faces in the Crowd” section.

Brandolini, a senior forward from Twinsburg, Ohio, registered 14 goals and a team-high 16 assists in her final season. She finishes her career ranked first in school history in goals (70), first in points (189), and second in assists (49).

Among the many honors that Brandolini received this season, the former Twinsburg High School star was selected as the Michelle Akers National Player of the Year by the National Christian College Athletic Association. She was also selected as an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American for the third time and named to the NCCAA East Region Team for the fourth time as she highlighted the list as the NCCAA East Region Player of the Year.

Brandolini becomes the ninth MVNU player or coach to be featured in Sports Illustrated’s "Faces in the Crowd” and the first since women’s basketball player Katie Keller was in the December 8th, 2003 issue. Shelly Aldrich is the only other MVNU women’s soccer player to be featured when she was in the October 9th, 2000 issue.

The Lady Cougars finished the year with a 15-7-1 overall record that included a share of the American Mideast Conference South Division title, the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region title, and a fourth-place finish at the NCCAA National Tournament. MVNU was also ranked 25th in the final NAIA national poll.
