NewsTwo Lady Cougars Earn Weekly Volleyball Honorswritten by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Shena Beheler and Tiffany Milburn, two members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s volleyball team, were recently honored for their efforts in helping the Lady Cougars to a 6-0 record last week and a runner-up finish at the 12-team Cornerstone (Mich.) University Invitational.
Beheler, a 5-foot-10 junior middle hitter from Butler, Ohio, was selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Player of the Week after averaging 4.42 kills per game and a .347 attack percentage during MVNU’s perfect week. The former Fredericktown High School star, who was named to the Cornerstone Invitational All-Tournament Team, posted 20 kills and 12 digs in a four-game victory over the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) in her best single-match performance of the week. Beheler also moved up to eighth place on the school’s career list in both kills (1,458) and blocks (533). Milburn, a 5-foot-5 junior defensive specialist from Centerburg, Ohio, was chosen as the National Christian College Athletic Association National Player of the Week after averaging 5.95 digs per game. The former Centerburg High School standout, who joined Beheler on the Cornerstone Invitational All-Tournament Team, reached double figures in digs in all six matches during the week including tallying 27 digs in a four-game win over Illinois Institute of Technology. During the week, Milburn became the 20th player in school history to reach the 1,000-dig mark for her career, and she now ranks 16th on the school’s all-time list with 1,120 career digs. MVNU is now 9-3 overall on the season. The Lady Cougars will host Notre Dame College on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference match that will also be the team’s home opener.
