VERNON, Ohio - Alex Stout, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University men’s soccer team, has been selected as the American
Mideast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance
during the week of September 25-October 1.Stout, a freshman goalkeeper from Pataskala, Ohio, helped MVNU to a 2-0-0 record for the week. In a 3-2 victory at Malone College, the former Watkins Memorial standout posted one save and allowed one goal in 45 minutes of action. Then, in the Cougars’ 2-1 win over Cedarville University, Stout stopped four shots and allowed one goal in 90 minutes as MVNU defeated the Yellow Jackets for the first time since 2001. On the season, Stout has posted a 1.57 goals against average by allowing 15 goals in 10 matches. He has posted 46 saves and notched one shutout while logging 858 minutes in goal. The Cougars are currently 5-5-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the AMC South Division. MVNU will return to action on Saturday when the team will host Shawnee State University at 1:00 p.m.
