VERNON, Ohio - Shena Beheler, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University women’s volleyball team, has been selected as the
American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Player of the Week
for her performance during the week of October 2-8.Beheler, a 5-foot-10 junior middle hitter from Butler, Ohio, averaged 5.64 kills, 2.64 digs, and 1.36 blocks per game as the Lady Cougars posted a 2-1 record during the week. She posted 12 kills, 10 digs, and four blocks in a loss to 12th-ranked Cedarville University to begin the week. Then, the former Fredericktown High School standout registered 22 kills, seven digs, and six blocks in a victory over Urbana University. She closed out the week with a career-high 28 kills, 12 digs, and five blocks as MVNU upset 22nd-ranked Walsh University to snap the Lady Cavaliers’ 17-match winning streak. On the season, Beheler leads the Lady Cougars with 443 kills, 139 blocks, and 39 aces. She has also registered 267 digs. She now ranks seventh in school history with 1,735 career kills and fifth in career blocks (634). MVNU, which is 21-9 overall and 6-2 in the AMC South Division, will return to action on Tuesday when the Lady Cougars will travel to Tiffin University for an AMC South Division match that will begin at 7:00 p.m.
