Six Lady Cougars Earn NCCAA East Region
Soccer Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Six members of the
Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
soccer team and their head coach were
recently honored when the National Christian
College Athletic Association East Region awards were announced.

Kristy Brandolini, a junior forward from
Twinsburg, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA East
Region Team for the third straight year and
was the second-highest vote-getter on the
ballot. The former Twinsburg High School
star leads the Lady Cougars with 13 goals
and 12 assists.
Allison Elifritz, a senior midfielder
from Westerville, Ohio, was also named to
the NCCAA East Region Team for the third
straight year and was the top midfielder
selected. The former Worthington Christian
High School product has compiled six goals
and three assists this season.
Krysti Wilson, a senior goalkeeper from
Sunbury, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA East
Region Team for the fourth straight season
and was the top goalkeeper selected. The
former Big Walnut High School standout has
posted a 1.14 goals against average with
five shutouts and 60 saves this season.
Wilson has also recorded one assist.
Allie Warnemunde, a senior midfielder
from West Chester, Ohio, was also named to
the NCCAA East Region Team for the second
time in her career. The former Lakota East
High School star has tallied five goals and
two assists while starting all 19 matches
this season.
Samantha Tomlinson, a junior defender
from Tipp City, Ohio, rounded out the NCCAA
East Region Team picks for the Lady Cougars.
The former Tippecanoe High School product
has started all 19 matches and is second on
the team with a career-high eight assists.
Angie Misamore, a freshman defender from
Findlay, Ohio, was an NCCAA East Region
Honorable Mention selection. The former
Findlay High School standout has started all
19 matches and helped anchor the defense
that has posted five shutouts and allowed
just 22 goals in 19 matches.
Head coach Jonathan Meade was chosen as
the NCCAA East Region Coach of the Year
after guiding the Lady Cougars to the NCCAA
East Region title and the American Mideast
Conference South Division crown.
MVNU, which is currently 11-7-1 overall,
will be the third seed at the upcoming
National Christian College Athletic
Association National Tournament in
Kissimmee, Florida. The Lady Cougars will
open play in the eight-team tournament at
Austin-Tindall Complex on Friday with a 4:30
p.m. match against sixth-seeded Asbury (Ky.)
College in the first round. |
