Lady Cougars Receive AMC South Division Soccer Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Six members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s soccer team and their head coach were recently honored when the American Mideast Conference South Division awards were announced.

Krysti Wilson, a senior goalkeeper from Sunbury, Ohio, was named to the AMC South Division First Team for the third straight season. The former Big Walnut High School standout has posted a 1.14 goals against average with five shutouts and 60 saves this season. Wilson has also recorded one assist.

Allison Elifritz, a senior midfielder from Westerville, Ohio, joined Wilson on the AMC South Division First Team for the second time in her career. The former Worthington Christian High School product has compiled six goals and three assists this season.

Kristy Brandolini, a junior forward from Twinsburg, Ohio, was also named to the AMC South Division First Team for the second straight year. The former Twinsburg High School star leads the Lady Cougars with 13 goals and 12 assists.

Angie Misamore, a freshman defender from Findlay, Ohio, rounded out the MVNU contingent on the AMC South Division First Team. The former Findlay High School standout has started all 19 matches and helped anchor the defense that has posted five shutouts and allowed just 22 goals in 19 matches. Misamore was also selected as the AMC South Division Freshman of the Year.

Page Miller, a sophomore forward from Bethel, Ohio, was named to the AMC South Division Second Team. The former Bethel-Tate High School product has recorded career highs of 11 goals and five assists for the Lady Cougars this season.

Allie Warnemunde, a senior midfielder from West Chester, Ohio, was selected as an AMC South Division Honorable Mention pick. The former Lakota East High School star has tallied five goals and two assists while starting all 19 matches this season.

Head coach Jonathan Meade was also selected as the AMC South Division Coach of the Year for the fourth time in the past five seasons as he led the Lady Cougars to their third conference title in the past four years with a 7-1-0 AMC South Division mark.

MVNU, which is currently 11-7-1 overall, will be the third seed at the upcoming National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida. The Lady Cougars will open play in the eight-team tournament at Austin-Tindall Complex on Friday with a 4:30 p.m. match against sixth-seeded Asbury (Ky.) College in the first round.
