MVNU Lands Eight on NAIA Spring
Scholar-Athlete Lists

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon
Nazarene University athletic department is
pleased to announce that eight
student-athletes have been selected as NAIA
Scholar-Athletes in spring sports this year.
The MVNU baseball team boasted
four NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the first
time in school history. Seniors Ryan
Decker (3.980) and Zack Helm (3.929) led the
way as they were joined by juniors Jason
Barber (3.660) and Dave Yost (3.533).
The women’s fastpitch softball team
featured two players as seniors Laura Kot
(4.000) and Melody Blimline (3.725) were
honored.
The men’s golf team also had two players
honored as senior Derek Clark (3.778) and
junior Preston Knight (3.629) each made the
list.
In order to be eligible for nomination
for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award,
student-athletes must be a junior or a
senior with a 3.50 grade point average or
higher.
