Lady Cougars
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT
VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene
University womens soccer team has added
another key recruit to its roster for the
2007 season with the addition of Jessica
Estep, who has decided to further her
education and continue her soccer career
with the Lady Cougars.Estep, a
forward/midfielder from Mansfield, Ohio,
scored 25 goals and added six assists in 18
matches as a senior at Madison High School.
For her efforts in her final high school
season, she was selected as the Ohio
Cardinal Conference Offensive Player of the
Year and the North Central District Player
of the Year. After being named to the
All-Ohio Third Team as a junior, Estep was
selected to the All-Ohio First Team as a
senior. She was also an NSCAA/adidas
All-Region IV honoree. Estep finished her
career with 54 career goals and 27 career
assists.
"I am very pleased with the signing of
Jessica, said MVNU head coach Jonathan
Meade. "She has had a stellar high school
career and will be an instant impact player.
She can play a variety of attacking
positions and will fit nicely with the
returning players and the other incoming
freshmen. Besides having the technical
skill, vision, and understanding of the game
to make a difference, it is her intangible
God-given athletic ability that will create
fits for opponents next year. I think she
will be an exciting player to watch.
"I think the positive atmosphere and
small, personal classes of MVNU are the
qualities that Jessica really likes and will
truly enjoy over her time here, Meade
added. "I think it will be an exciting four
years for both MVNU and Jessica.
In addition to playing soccer at Madison
High School and on various club teams, Estep
was a member of National Honor Society and
Homecoming court. She was also active in
Student Council.
"There are several reasons why I chose
MVNU, said Estep of her college choice. "I
really like the small campus setting. Coach
Meade is willing to not only help you
succeed on the soccer field, but in the
classroom as well. All of the girls on the
team are really nice and have made me feel
welcome.

MVNU finished the season with a 13-7-2
overall record. The Lady Cougars won the
American Mideast Conference South Division
title, the National Christian College
Athletic Association East Region crown, and
the NCCAA national championship.
