Three Lady Cougars Receive NCCAA East
Region Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Three members of the
Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
basketball team were
honored when the National
Christian College Athletic Association East
Region awards were announced on Thursday.

Katie Keller, a 5-foot-6 senior guard
from Prospect, Ohio, headlined the list for
the Lady Cougars as she was named to the
NCCAA East Region First Team for the second
straight year. The former Elgin High School
star led MVNU in scoring (17.2 points per
game) and three-pointers made (77), and she
was second on the team in assists (79) and
steals (76). Keller, who finished her career
as the Lady Cougars’ all-time leading scorer
with 1,726 points, shot 40.8 percent from
the field (153-for-375), 37.9 percent from
three-point range (77-for-203), and 70.4
percent at the free throw line
(100-for-142).
Rachel Fiely, a 5-foot-7 sophomore guard
from Greenville, Ohio, was named to the
NCCAA East Region Second Team for the second
consecutive season. The former Greenville
High School standout averaged 13.1 points
and 5.1 rebounds, while leading the team in
assists (132) and steals (83). After just
two seasons, she already ranks ninth in
school history with 254 career assists, and
she is closing in on the top ten in steals
with 162. Fiely shot 45.7 percent from the
field (127-for-278), 46.5 percent from
three-point range (47-for-101), and 74.7
percent at the free throw line (65-for-87).
Amy Sebastian, a 5-foot-9 junior forward
from Harrison, Ohio, was an NCCAA East
Region Honorable Mention pick for the second
straight year. The former Landmark Christian
High School product averaged 13.1 points and
5.6 rebounds while also compiling 48 assists
and 39 steals. Sebastian also became only
the 18th player in school history to score
1,000 career points.
MVNU finished the year with an 11-17
overall record and a 4-14 mark in the
highly-competitive American Mideast
Conference South Division.
