MVNU's Kot Earns Weekly Softball Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Laura Kot, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s fastpitch softball team, was selected as the American Mideast Conference, NAIA Region IX, and National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for her performance in games during the week of March 19-25.

Kot, a senior second baseman from Tallmadge, Ohio, batted .593 for the week as the Lady Cougars went 6-2. She registered three two-hit games and three three-hit games and she reached base in all eight games. She also scored five runs and drove in two runs while also stealing three bases.

On the season, the former Tallmadge High School star leads MVNU with a .588 batting average as she has gone 30-for-51 at the plate. She has scored a team-leading 16 runs and registered a team-high 10 stolen bases to go with six RBI.

MVNU is currently 12-2 overall. The Lady Cougars will return to action on Thursday when the team will travel to Kenyon College for a non-conference doubleheader that will start at 3:30 p.m.
