MVNU's Eyerman Earns Pitcher of the Week

MOUNT
VERNON, Ohio - Kristin Eyerman, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
fastpitch softball team, was recently
selected as the American Mideast Conference
and NAIA Region IX Pitcher of the Week and
the National Christian College Athletic
Association Player of the Week for
her performance during the week of March
12-18.Eyerman, a junior right-hander from
Delaware, Ohio, posted a 2-0 record with one
save on the week as she allowed just one
unearned run in 13.2 innings of work with 15
strikeouts and just two walks as the Lady
Cougars went 4-0 to start their season.
In MVNU’s season opener at Saint Vincent
(Pa.) College, Eyerman tossed a one-hit
shutout as she struck out five batters and
walked just one over seven innings in a 4-0
victory. Then, in the second game of that
doubleheader, the former Buckeye Valley High
School star worked the final 1.2 innings
with two strikeouts to post her first career
save as she preserved a 7-3 win. She closed
out the week by leading the Lady Cougars to
a 9-1 victory over Penn State University-Behrend
as she allowed just six hits, one walk, and
one unearned run in five innings with eight
strikeouts.
On the season, Eyerman is now 4-1 with a
1.60 ERA. In 39.1 innings of work, she has
struck out 29 batters and issued just four
walks. Opponents are hitting just .236
against her, and she also has two saves.
MVNU is currently 8-2 overall on the
season. The Lady Cougars will close out
their spring trip at the Orlando Rebel Games
in Kissimmee, Florida, on Friday with a game
against Illinois Wesleyan University at 9:00
a.m. and a game against Millikin (Ill.)
University at 1:00 p.m. |  |
