MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Kristin Eyerman, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s fastpitch softball team, was recently selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Pitcher of the Week and the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week for her performance during the week of March 12-18.

Eyerman, a junior right-hander from Delaware, Ohio, posted a 2-0 record with one save on the week as she allowed just one unearned run in 13.2 innings of work with 15 strikeouts and just two walks as the Lady Cougars went 4-0 to start their season.

In MVNU’s season opener at Saint Vincent (Pa.) College, Eyerman tossed a one-hit shutout as she struck out five batters and walked just one over seven innings in a 4-0 victory. Then, in the second game of that doubleheader, the former Buckeye Valley High School star worked the final 1.2 innings with two strikeouts to post her first career save as she preserved a 7-3 win. She closed out the week by leading the Lady Cougars to a 9-1 victory over Penn State University-Behrend as she allowed just six hits, one walk, and one unearned run in five innings with eight strikeouts.

On the season, Eyerman is now 4-1 with a 1.60 ERA. In 39.1 innings of work, she has struck out 29 batters and issued just four walks. Opponents are hitting just .236 against her, and she also has two saves.

MVNU is currently 8-2 overall on the season. The Lady Cougars will close out their spring trip at the Orlando Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Florida, on Friday with a game against Illinois Wesleyan University at 9:00 a.m. and a game against Millikin (Ill.) University at 1:00 p.m.
