Transfers to MVNU

MOUNT
VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene
University women’s basketball team has
signed another important recruit for the
2007-2008 season as Lindsay Stein has
decided to further her education and
continue her basketball career at MVNU.
Stein, a 5-foot-7 sophomore guard from
Dayton, Ohio, has decided to transfer to
MVNU from Indiana Wesleyan University, where
she did not play basketball as a freshman.
As a senior at Dayton Christian High School,
Stein averaged 13.1 points, 6.4 rebounds,
and 3.0 assists while shooting 48.3 percent
from the field and 78.3 percent at the free
throw line. For her efforts as a senior,
Stein was named to the Metro Buckeye
Conference First Team, the District 15 First
Team, the Dayton Daily News Second Team, and
the All-Southwest Ohio Third Team.
"I am very happy that Lindsay has decided
to transfer to MVNU after a year at Indiana
Wesleyan,” said MVNU head coach Steve
Gregory. "She comes from a very successful
high school program in Dayton Christian and
really had an outstanding season in
2005-2006.”
"Lindsay hit it off with our players the
moment she walked into an open gym,” Gregory
added. "She’s got a pleasant personality
along with an infectious smile. Added to
that, she is not afraid to get down and
dirty on the basketball court. She has also
excelled in the classroom and will be a
great all around addition to not only our
program but our campus community as well.”
In addition to playing basketball at
Dayton Christian, Stein was the
valedictorian of her class and a member of
National Honor Society.
"There are several reasons why I chose
MVNU,” said Stein of her college choice. "It
is a private Christian school with nice
small class sizes that allow for a lot more
one-on-one attention with professors. All of
the people at MVNU are really welcoming and
friendly, especially the girls on the
basketball team. I feel at home with the
Christian atmosphere that MVNU has.”
The Lady Cougars, who are an NAIA
Division II school, finished the 2006-2007
season with an 11-17 overall record.
