MVNU's Yoder Named NAIA Honorable Mention All-American

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Ross Yoder, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team, was selected as an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American when the NAIA All-American Teams were announced as part of the NAIA World Series championship game on Thursday night in Lewiston, Idaho.

Yoder, a junior second baseman from Berlin, Ohio, posted a .406 batting average as he started in 52 of the team’s 54 games during the season and committed just nine errors in 268 chances for a .966 fielding percentage. The former Hiland High School star led the Cougars with 63 runs scored out of the lead-off spot and five triples, and he tied for the team lead with eight stolen bases. He also compiled 13 doubles, 10 home runs, and 48 RBI.

In addition to being named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, Yoder was named to the American Mideast Conference South Division First Team, the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Team, the NAIA Region IX Team, and the NCCAA All-American Team.

MVNU finished the season with a 38-16 overall record, and the Cougars captured a share of the AMC South Division title with a 19-5 conference mark. The team advanced to the championship game of the NAIA Region IX Tournament for the eighth straight year and also competed in the NCCAA National Tournament.
