MVNU's Falkenberg Named NCCAA Player of
the Week

MOUNT
VERNON, Ohio - Ben Falkenberg, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s
basketball team, has been selected as the
National Christian College Athletic
Association Player of the Week for his
performance during the week of December
11-17.Falkenberg, a 5-foot-10 sophomore
guard from Wadsworth, Ohio, scored a
career-high 37 points in the Cougars’ only
game of the week - a 92-73 non-conference
victory at NAIA Division I Spalding (Ky.)
University. The former Wadsworth High School
star was 13-for-21 from the field overall
and 9-for-13 from three-point range. He
scored 25 points in the first half as MVNU
led just 48-47 at the break, and he did not
play in the final seven-plus minutes of the
second half as he played just 28 minutes in
the game.
For the season, Falkenberg leads the
Cougars and ranks sixth among NAIA Division
II players in scoring with a 23.2 points per
game average. He is shooting 52.5 percent
from the field (96-for-183), 47.5 percent
from three-point range (47-for-99), and 93.0
percent at the free throw line (40-for-43).
He has also recorded 14 rebounds, 14 steals,
and 27 assists.
MVNU is currently 9-3 overall and ranked
22nd in the latest NAIA Division II poll.
The Cougars will return to action on
December 28-29 at the Grand Canyon Shootout
in Phoenix, Arizona. MVNU will take on Biola
(Calif.) University, who is receiving votes
in the NAIA Division I poll, on December 28
at 6:00 p.m. and Hanover (Ind.) College, an
NCAA Division III school, on December 29 at
3:15 p.m. |  |
