MVNU's Yoder Earns Player of the Week Honors

MOUNT
VERNON, Ohio - Ross Yoder, a member of the
Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball
team, has been selected as the American
Mideast Conference, NAIA Region IX, and
National Christian College Athletic
Association Player of the Week for his
performance during the week of April 2-8.
Yoder, a junior second baseman from Berlin,
Ohio, batted .625 (5-for-8) with a 1.500
slugging percentage as the Cougars swept a
non-conference doubleheader from Walsh
University in the team’s only action of the
week. In the first game, the former Hiland
High School star went 2-for-4 with a home
run, one RBI, and two runs scored. Then, in
the second contest, Yoder went 3-for-4 with
a double, a home run, two runs scored, and
four RBI.
On the season, Yoder leads the team with
a .409 batting average (47-for-115) and 33
runs scored. He has recorded seven doubles,
one triple, six home runs, four stolen
bases, and shares the team lead with 27 RBI
as a lead-off batter. In the field, Yoder
has handled 149 chances with just four
errors for a 97.3 fielding percentage. He
has also been a part of two home run records
this season as he became the first player in
school history to homer in three consecutive
games, and he was also part of a four-homer
inning against Mayville State (N.D.)
University on March 15.
MVNU is currently 20-10 overall on the
season and in third place in the AMC South
Division with an 8-4 conference mark. The
Cougars are slated to return to action on
Thursday with an AMC South Division
doubleheader at home against Cedarville
University starting at 2:00 p.m.
