MOUNT
VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene
University mens soccer team has signed
another recruit of the 2007 season with the
addition of Jake Reber, who has decided to
further his education and continue his
soccer career at MVNU.Reber, a midfielder
from Hilton, New York, registered four goals
and eight assists in 14 matches as a senior
at Hilton High School. A team captain, Reber
was named to the All-County First Team and
the All-Greater Rochester Honorable Mention
list as a senior.
"We have been in contact with Jake since
last summer and I am pleased to have him
commit to play with us, said MVNU head
coach Paul Furey. "He has fit in nicely with
our players on his visits and has been well
accepted. He is a good match for our school.
He is a solid student, who wanted to attend
a Christian school. We look forward to
having Jake join us.
"Jake is an intelligent player who sees
the game well, Furey added. "He is composed
on the ball and can distribute as well as
attack the goal. I can see Jake stepping in
and helping us right away and eventually
being an integral part of our midfield.
In addition to playing soccer at Hilton
High School, Reber is a member of National
Honor Society. He will be playing with the
Under-19 Charlotte Eagles/M.A.I. team on a
Brazil tour during this coming summer.
"There are several reasons why I decided
to attend MVNU, said Reber of his college
choice. "I really enjoyed my experience with
the team and Coach Furey. As soon as I got
to MVNU, I felt welcomed. I also like the
Christian environment and look forward to
coming to MVNU next fall.
MVNU finished the 2006 season with a
7-10-1 overall record and a 4-4-0 mark in
the highly competitive American Mideast
Conference South Division.
