MVNU's Laughlin Named NCCAA Baseball
Player of the Week

MOUNT
VERNON, Ohio - Mike Laughlin, a member of
the Mount Vernon Nazarene University
baseball team, has been selected as the
National Christian College Athletic
Association Player of the Week for his
efforts during the week of April 9-15.
Laughlin, a senior pitcher from Mogadore,
Ohio, posted a 2-0 record on the mound with
a 1.93 ERA as part of the Cougars’ 4-2 week.
In a 3-2 victory at 13th-ranked Ohio
Dominican University, the former Cuyahoga
Valley Christian Academy standout scattered
six hits, four walks, and two runs over
seven innings with six strikeouts. Then, he
closed out the week by allowing just five
hits, three walks, and two runs (one earned)
over seven innings with eight strikeouts in
a 4-2 win over Cedarville University.
On the season, Laughlin has posted a 3-2
record with a 1.76 ERA. In 41 innings of
work, he has struck out 41 batters.
Opponents are hitting just .203 against him.
He also now has 21 career wins and has moved
into eighth place in school history with 228
career strikeouts.
MVNU is currently 24-10 overall and 12-4
in the American Mideast Conference South
Division. The Cougars will return to action
on Friday when the team will travel to
Urbana University for a conference
doubleheader that will get under way at 1:00
p.m.
