MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s basketball team has signed its first recruit for the 2007-2008 season with the addition of Adam Grimm, who has decided to further his education and continue his basketball career with the Cougars.

Grimm, who is a 6-foot-7 forward/center from Titusville, Florida, averaged 15.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and three blocked shots per game as a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville, Ohio. For his efforts, Grimm was named to the Division IV All-County First Team, the Intercoastal All-Region Second Team, the Northeastern All-Star Team, and the All-State Honorable Mention list. He shot 62 percent from the field and 65 percent from the free throw line.

"Adam has the potential to be a very good college player,” said MVNU head coach Scott Flemming. "He is athletic and very mobile for his size. He will be able to play several positions. If he puts the time into it, he could be a special player.”

"Adam will be a great fit for our style of play,” added Flemming. "He has a very supportive family, and they are as excited about him coming to MVNU as we are having him.”

In addition to playing basketball, Grimm is a member of National Honor Society, the school newspaper staff, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

"There are several reasons why I chose MVNU,” said Grimm of his college choice. "I like the fact that it is a small, private school with small class sizes. The fact that the men’s basketball program has been very successful was also important.”

MVNU finished the season with a 25-7 overall record and was ranked 10th in the final NAIA Division II poll. The Cougars, who have topped the 20-win mark in 10 of the past 11 seasons, won a share of the American Mideast Conference South Division title, earned a berth in the NAIA Division II national tournament, and advanced to the second round before falling 75-73 to eventual national champion MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) University.
