MVNU
written by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT
VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene
University mens soccer team has signed
another recruit of the 2007 season with the
addition of Nick Bryan, who has decided to
further his education and continue his
soccer career at MVNU.Bryan, a midfielder
from Jamestown, Ohio, scored eight goals and
registered four assists in 16 matches as a
senior at Greeneview High School as he was
named to the Ohio Heritage Conference First
Team and the All-District First Team. He was
also an OHC First Team selection and an
All-District Second Team pick as a junior as
Greeneview won the Division III state
championship.
"I feel really good about having Nick
join us next fall, said MVNU head coach
Paul Furey. "I was a bit surprised that he
was not recruited by more schools because he
is a solid player who will have a good
college career. He is a good guy with a
desire to attend a Christian college. He has
a good work ethic in the midfield, but also
has the ability to create and score as he
gets forward. He will do a nice job for us
and will fit in well in our campus
community.
In addition to playing soccer at
Greeneview, Bryan is a member of National
Honor Society and serves as the vice
president of Students Opposed to Drugs and
Alcohol (SODA). He has also been the vice
president of Christians in Action and has
played club soccer for Ohio Galaxy and Team
Dayton.
"There are several reasons why I decided
to attend MVNU, said Bryan of his college
choice. "It is a Christian school with a
good soccer program. MVNU has a nice campus
and is in a good location in regards to
where I am from.
MVNU finished the 2006 season with a
7-10-1 overall record and a 4-4-0 mark in
the highly competitive American Mideast
Conference South Division.
