In addition, he was also chosen as the American Mideast Conference Player of the Week.

Van Pelt, a junior forward from Maryville, Tennessee, led the Cougars to a 2-0-0 record for the week as the team captured the First-Knox Cougar Invitational title. In a 6-0 victory over Northland Baptist Bible (Wis.) College in the first round, the former William Blount High School star scored two goals and registered an assist. Then, in the championship match against Grace (Ind.) College, Van Pelt scored a goal and added an assist as MVNU prevailed 2-0. For his efforts, he was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

On the season, Van Pelt leads the Cougars with five goals and four assists. In fact, he has scored or assisted on all but four of the team’s goals so far this year.

MVNU is currently 2-1-2 overall. The Cougars will return to action on Saturday when the team will travel to Daemen (N.Y.) College for a non-conference match that will start at 1:00 p.m.
