MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Jordan Knight, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University men’s soccer team, has been selected as the
American Mideast Conference Defender of the Week and the NAIA
Region IX and National Christian College Athletic Association
Player of the Week for his performance during the week of
September 19-25.
Knight, a junior goalkeeper from Kentwood, Michigan, helped the Cougars open AMC South Division play with a pair of shutouts against two of the top three teams from a year ago. In a 3-0 win over Tiffin University, he posted six saves. Then, in a 2-0 victory at Ohio Dominican University, he stopped two shots. On the season, Knight ranks fifth in the AMC with a 0.88 goals against average. He has also posted three shutouts. MVNU is currently 7-1-2 overall and 2-0-0 in the AMC South Division. The Cougars, who are ranked fourth in the latest NAIA Region IX rankings, will host Myers University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The MVNU Student Government Association will also be sponsoring Dime-A-Dog Day at the match.
