Three Lady Cougars Named to NAIA Region IX Soccer Teams

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s soccer team were recently honored when the NAIA Region IX First and Second Teams were announced.

Kristy Brandolini, a sophomore forward from Twinsburg, Ohio, highlighted the list for the Lady Cougars as she was selected to the NAIA Region IX First Team. The former Twinsburg High School star led MVNU with 20 goals and seven assists in 17 matches in 2005.

Krysti Wilson, a junior goalkeeper from Sunbury, Ohio, joined Brandolini on the NAIA Region IX First Team as she earned the honor for the third straight season. The former Big Walnut High School standout posted a 1.20 goals against average with four shutouts this season.

Leanna Goss, a senior defender from Westerville, Ohio, was named to the NAIA Region IX Second Team. The former Westerville South High School product registered one goal and two assists as she started all 19 matches. She also helped anchor the defense that posted six shutouts on the year.

The Lady Cougars completed the season with a 12-6-1 overall record. MVNU also finished second in the American Mideast Conference South Division with a 6-1-1 conference mark.
