Six Lady Cougars Earn NCCAA East Region Soccer Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -  Six members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s soccer team were honored when the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region awards were announced recently.

 
Kristy Brandolini Krysti Wilson Leanna Goss

Kristy Brandolini, a sophomore forward from Twinsburg, Ohio, was the runner-up for NCCAA East Region Player of the Year and highlighted the NCCAA East Region Team list for the Lady Cougars. The former star at Twinsburg High School led MVNU with 20 goals and seven assists this season.

Krysti Wilson, a junior goalkeeper from Sunbury, Ohio, joined Brandolini on the NCCAA East Region Team. The former Big Walnut High School standout posted a 1.20 goals against average with four shutouts.

Leanna Goss, a senior defender from Westerville, Ohio, was also named to the NCCAA East Region Team. The former Westerville South High School product registered one goal and two assists and helped the Lady Cougars’ defense post six shutouts.

 

Kelly Sgambellone Jessi Gates Lindsay See

Kelly Sgambellone, a freshman forward from Hilliard, Ohio, rounded out the NCCAA East Region Team picks for MVNU. The former Hilliard Darby High School graduate compiled nine goals and two assists in her first college season.

Jessi Gates, a senior defender from Richmond, Ohio, was an NCCAA East Region Honorable Mention selection. The former Edison High School product recorded one goal and two assists.

Lindsay See, a junior midfielder from Mansfield, Ohio, was also an NCCAA East Region Honorable Mention pick. The former Crestview High School standout started all 19 matches and scored on goal.

MVNU finished the season with a 12-6-1 overall record as the Lady Cougars were the American Mideast Conference South Division and NCCAA East Region Tournament runner-ups.
