Two Lady Cougars Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -  Amanda Stevens and Jenny Dunster, the two seniors on the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s volleyball team, have both been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Second Team in the College Division.

Stevens, an outside hitter from Mount Vernon, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars with 730 digs this season. The former Centerburg High School standout also compiled 636 kills, 69 blocks, and 60 aces. In the classroom, the Early Childhood Education major has posted a 3.8 grade point average. She was previously named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Third Team as a sophomore in 2003.

Dunster, a middle hitter from Apple Creek, Ohio, led MVNU with a school-record 969 serve attempts this year. The former Central Christian High School star also recorded 557 kills, 204 blocks, 47 aces, and 622 digs. In the classroom, the Criminal Justice/Psychology major has posted a 3.7 grade point average.

MVNU finished the 2005 campaign with a 42-12 overall record and an 11-5 American Mideast Conference South Division mark. The Lady Cougars also advanced to the NAIA Region IX Tournament championship match for the fifth time in the past seven years.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District IV College Division Teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. Eligible student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 grade point average and be at least in their sophomore year. The District IV College Division is made up of NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.
