Four Lady Cougars Earn AMC Volleyball Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -  Four members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s volleyball team were honored when the American Mideast Conference South Division awards were announced on Thursday.

Shena Beheler, a sophomore middle hitter from Butler, Ohio, highlighted the list for the Lady Cougars as she was the third player selected to the AMC South Division First Team. The former Fredericktown High School star leads MVNU with 629 kills and 240 blocks to go with 41 aces and 395 digs. Beheler now ranks eleventh in school history with 1,210 kills and tenth in career blocks with 469.

Amanda Stevens, a senior outside hitter from Mount Vernon, Ohio, was named to the AMC South Division Second Team. The former Centerburg High School standout has compiled 555 kills and a team-high 641 digs to go with 56 aces and 59 blocks. Stevens currently ranks second in school history in kills (1,923) and second in digs (2,430).

Jenny Dunster, a senior middle hitter from Apple Creek, Ohio, joined Stevens on the AMC South Division Second Team. The former Central Christian High School product has registered 488 kills, 178 blocks, 38 aces, and 548 digs. Dunster currently ranks seventh in school history in kills (1,406) and eighth in digs (1,514).

Allison Klusmann, a sophomore setter from Tallmadge, Ohio, was an AMC South Division Honorable Mention pick. The former Tallmadge High School graduate has handed out 1,883 assists - the third-highest single-season total in school history - and compiled 111 kills, 42 aces, and 260 digs. Klusmann has also moved up to fourth in school history with 3,797 assists.

MVNU is currently 38-10 overall. The Lady Cougars, who posted an 11-5 AMC South Division mark, will be the second seed in the upcoming AMC Tournament at top-seeded Cedarville University. MVNU will face the winner of the match between Malone College and Notre Dame College at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lady Cougars must win at least two matches to advance to the NAIA Region IX Tournament next weekend.
