MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Amanda Stevens, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women’s volleyball team, has been selected as
the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the
Week for her performance during the week of October 24-30.Stevens, a senior outside hitter from Mount Vernon, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 3-0 record for the week as she averaged 4.70 kills, 3.20 digs, and 0.60 blocks. In a sweep over Ohio Dominican University, the former Centerburg High School star registered nine kills, 15 digs, and two aces. She added 16 kills, 10 digs, and four blocks in a sweep at the University of Rio Grande. Then, she closed out the week with 22 kills and seven digs in a victory at Shawnee State University. For the season, Stevens currently leads MVNU with 582 digs and 52 aces. She is also second in kills with 492, and she has compiled 52 blocks. She needs just 21 more kills to move into second place on the school’s career kills list as she currently stands at 1,860. She also needs just 81 more digs to become the all-time leader in that category. The Lady Cougars are currently 35-9 overall and finished American Mideast Conference South Division play with an 11-5 mark for second place. MVNU will travel to the NCCAA National Tournament in St. Paul, Minnesota, with two pool play matches on both Friday and Saturday at the 10-team event. The Lady Cougars are seeded fourth.
