Lady Cougars Earn All-Conference
Softball Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Four members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene
University women’s fastpitch softball team were recently honored
when the American Mideast Conference South Division awards were
announced.

Headlining the list for the Lady Cougars was senior shortstop
Stephanie Johnson, who was selected as to the AMC South Division
First Team and the NAIA Region IX Team. Johnson, a native of
Tallmadge, Ohio, and a former star at Cuyahoga Valley Christian
Academy, led MVNU with a .388 batting average, 50 hits, 19
doubles, eight triples, three home runs, and 41 RBI. Johnson
finished her stellar career in the top five in nearly every
offensive category for the Lady Cougars.
Laura Kot, a junior outfielder from Tallmadge, Ohio, was named
to the AMC South Division Honorable Mention Team. The former
Tallmadge High School standout batted .348 with 46 hits, five
doubles, one triple, 10 RBI, nine stolen bases, and a team-high
28 runs scored.
Chelsea Kellerman, a freshman catcher from Wapakoneta, Ohio,
joined Kot as an AMC South Division Honorable Mention selection.
The former Wapakoneta High School standout posted a .295 batting
average with 26 hits, two doubles, seven RBI, and 10 runs
scored. She also threw out eight runners trying to steal.
Karly Clay, a freshman third baseman from Blacklick, Ohio, was
named to the AMC South Division All-Freshmen Team. The former
Gahanna Lincoln High School standout batted .306 with 34 hits,
four doubles, one triple, eight runs scored, and 14 RBI.
MVNU finished the 2006 season with a 16-23 overall record and a
3-11 American Mideast Conference South Division mark.
