Three Lady Cougars Claim AMC South Division Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -  Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s basketball team were honored recently when the American Mideast Conference South Division awards were announced.

Katie Keller, a 5-foot-6 junior guard from Prospect, Ohio, led the way for the Lady Cougars as she was named to the AMC South Division Second Team. The former Elgin High School star led MVNU in scoring (17.5 points per game) and set a new single-season school record with 507 points. Keller also led the team with 81 three-pointers to go with 75 assists and 75 steals.

Rachel Fiely, a 5-foot-7 freshman guard from Greenville, Ohio, was named to the AMC South Division All-Freshmen Team and was also an AMC South Division Honorable Mention pick. The former Greenville High School standout averaged 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Fiely also led the Lady Cougars in assists (122), steals (79), and free throw percentage (82.6 percent).

Amy Sebastian, a 5-foot-9 sophomore wing from Harrison, Ohio, was also an AMC South Division Honorable Mention selection. The former Landmark Christian High School product averaged 11.5 points and 5.7 rebounds to go with 44 assists and 53 steals.

MVNU finished the season with a 15-14 overall record. The Lady Cougars also were tied for seventh in the AMC South Division standings with a 7-11 conference mark.
