MVNU Has Record Number of All-America Scholar-Athletes

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University athletic department is pleased to announce that a school-record 20 student-athletes were recognized as NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes during the 2005-2006 school year.

The women’s soccer team and men’s basketball team each had four players selected, while the baseball team, women’s volleyball team, and women’s softball team had three players apiece honored. Men’s soccer also had two honorees, and the men’s golf team had one player selected.

In order to be eligible for an NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team, a student-athlete must be in his or her junior or senior year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Each sport also has specific statistical and games played minimums, and transfer students are not eligible until they have attend their current school for at least one year.
