MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Erin Arnett, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women’s basketball team, has been selected as
the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the
Week for her performance during the week of December 26-January 1.Arnett, a 6-foot-2 senior center from Miamisburg, Ohio, posted her fifth double-double of the season as she scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in a 65-58 non-conference victory at previously unbeaten Kenyon College, ranked 14th in NCAA Division III. The former Miamisburg High School star scored 19 of her points in the second half as the Lady Cougars rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit. On the season, Arnett leads MVNU in scoring (17.3 points per game) and rebounding (9.1 rebounds per game), and she is shooting a team-best 59.7 percent from the field (92-for-154). She has also recorded a team-high 11 blocked shots and is shooting 63.0 percent at the free throw line (58-for-92). For her career, Arnett recently became only the 16th Lady Cougar to top the 1,000-point mark as she reached the milestone on December 13 in a win at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. She has since moved up to 12th place with 1,042 points in 99 career games. Arnett has also moved up to fifth place in school history with 689 career rebounds and 278 free throws made and ninth place with 54 career blocked shots. MVNU is currently 10-4 overall and 2-2 in the American Mideast Conference South Division. The Lady Cougars will host Cedarville University, ranked second in NAIA Division II, on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. |
