MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Kristin Eyerman, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s fastpitch softball team, was recently selected as the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX Pitcher of the Week for her performance during the Week of March 20-26.
Eyerman, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Delaware, Ohio, posted a 4-2 record on the mound during the week with a 2.00 ERA. In 35 innings of work, the former Buckeye Valley High School standout struck out 24 batters and issued just two walks.
One of the highlights for Eyerman during the week included a four-hit shutout victory over Eastern Connecticut State University as she allowed just one walk with four strikeouts over seven innings. She also struck out eight batters in a 5-4 win over Millikin (Ill.) College, and she posted wins over Augsburg (Minn.) College and Otterbein College.
On the season, Eyerman has posted a 4-8 record with a 1.77 ERA as she has pitched in all but four of the team’s 16 games so far this year. In 75 innings of work, she has struck out 48 batters and issued just 12 walks. Opponents are hitting just .256 against her.
MVNU will return to action on Tuesday with a non-conference home doubleheader against Notre Dame College that will begin at 3:30 p.m. The games were originally scheduled to be played at Notre Dame, but have been moved to Cougar Field due to poor field conditions at Notre Dame.
