MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Derek Clark, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University men’s golf team, has been selected as the
National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week
for his performance during the week of April 10-16.Clark, a junior from Paulding, Ohio, helped lead MVNU to a second-place finish at the Walsh University Invitational to begin the week as he fired a two-day total of 158. Then, the former Paulding High School standout closed out the week by posting a school-record three-under-par 141 over two days to earn medalist honors as the Cougars finished sixth at their own invitational. On the season, Clark has consistently posted low scores for MVNU as he has finished in the top ten individually at three tournaments this spring including a fourth-place finish at the Glenville State (W.V.) College Invitational and a ninth-place finish at the Urbana University Invitational. The Cougars will return to action on Friday and Saturday of this week as MVNU will take part in the Malone College Invitational. |
