The event, which is free of charge and is also open to the public, will focus on how to develop the true spirit of competition through the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA)’s Five Core Character Values - respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. Bruce Brown, a special presenter from the NAIA, will be the speaker. Brown is an educator who has prepared students for life challenges by teaching and coaching character. He has been employed by the NFL for over 25 years and worked in the state of Washington for over 35 years as a teacher, coach, and athletic administrator at the junior high, high school, and college levels. After two years working for the NAIA on a part-time basis, Brown joined the NAIA staff full-time on September 1, 2002. As the NAIA special presenter of the Champions of Character initiative, he regularly speaks to athletes, parents, coaches, and business on the subject of character. Brown has produced numerous instructional and character coaching videos and books including: Redefining the Term Athlete; The Role of Parents in Athletics; Teaching Character through Sport - Creating a Positive Coaching Legacy; 1001 Motivational Messages - Character Themes that Build Strong Teams; and The Seven Essentials for Great Teams - Another 1001 Quotes.
