MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Krysti Wilson, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women’s soccer team, has been selected as
the American Mideast Conference Defender of the Week for her
performance in matches played during the week of October 3-9.
Wilson, a sophomore goalkeeper from Sunbury, Ohio, helped the Lady Cougars to a 2-0 record for the week as she played all 180 minutes in goal. In a 4-1 victory over Cedarville University, the former Big Walnut High School standout posted four saves. Then, in a 2-1 win over Walsh University, she stopped nine shots and the only goal she gave up was an own goal knocked in by an MVNU defender. On the season, Wilson has played in and started 13 of the Lady Cougars’ 14 matches and posted three shutouts. She has allowed 17 goals for a 1.36 goals against average with 73 saves. The Lady Cougars are currently 11-3-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the AMC South Division. MVNU will put its eight-match winning streak on the line on Saturday when the team travels to Tiffin University for an important AMC South Division match that will begin at 1:00 p.m.
