MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Krysti Wilson, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women’s soccer team, has been selected as
the American Mideast Conference Defender of the Week for the third
time in four weeks as she was honored this time for her
performance during the week of October 24-30. She was also
selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association
Player of the Week for the same time frame.
Wilson, a sophomore goalkeeper from Sunbury, Ohio, helped lead the Lady Cougars to a 2-0-0 record for the week with a pair of shutouts. In a 3-0 win at Malone College, the former Big Walnut High School standout stopped nine shots as MVNU wrapped up its second straight AMC South Division title with a 7-0-0 record. Then, in a 4-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College in the AMC Qualifying Tournament, Wilson posted eight saves as the Lady Cougars advanced to the NAIA Region IX Final Four. Wilson, who has posted four straight shutouts and eight overall on the season, has allowed just 19 goals in 18 matches for a 1.12 goals against average. She allowed just four goals in seven AMC South Division matches with four shutouts. MVNU, which is ranked 23rd in the latest NAIA national poll, will return to action on Friday when the Lady Cougars will face Tiffin University at 4:00 p.m. in the NAIA Region IX Final Four semifinals at Houghton (N.Y.) College. The winner of the NAIA Region IX Tournament will get an automatic berth in the NAIA National Tournament in Santa Barbara, California.
