Four Lady Cougars Earn AMC South Division Honors

 MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Four members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s volleyball team were recently honored when the American Mideast Conference South Division awards were announced on Thursday.

Amanda Stevens, a junior outside hitter from Mount Vernon, Ohio, was selected to the AMC South Division First Team. The former Centerburg High School star leads the Lady Cougars with 529 kills, 591 digs, and 62 aces, and she has also posted 95 total blocks and a 96.3 serve reception percentage.

Jenny Weaver, a junior middle hitter from Apple Creek, Ohio, was an AMC South Division Honorable Mention selection. The former Central Christian High School standout has compiled 24 aces, 362 digs, 365 kills, and 193 total blocks.

Allison Klusmann, a freshman setter from Tallmadge, Ohio, was an AMC South Division Honorable Mention pick and was also named to the six-player AMC South Division All-Freshmen Team. The former Tallmadge High School star leads MVNU with 1,630 assists to go with 25 aces, 78 kills, 71 blocks, and 341 digs.

Shena Beheler, a freshman middle hitter from Butler, Ohio, was also selected to the AMC South Division Honorable Mention list. The former Fredericktown High School standout leads the Lady Cougars with 208 total blocks to go with 484 kills, 53 aces, and 182 digs.

MVNU is currently 29-13 overall. The Lady Cougars will travel to Daemen (N.Y.) College this weekend for the American Mideast Conference Tournament. The team will face Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College (19-15) at 2:00 p.m. on Friday with the winner advancing to a quarterfinal match at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The top four finishers at the tournament advance to next weekend’s NAIA Region IX Tournament at Cedarville University.
