MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Ryan Seesholtz, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University men’s basketball team, was recently selected
as the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of
the Week for his performance during the week of November 1-7.
Seesholtz, a 6-foot-4 sophomore wing from Georgetown, Ohio, led the Cougars to a 2-0 record for the week as he averaged 16.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game to lead MVNU to the Indiana Wesleyan University Tournament title. In a 68-67 win over Berea (Ky.) College, the former Georgetown High School star scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. He also scored the winning basket with 18 seconds left and then forced a turnover to preserve the win. In the championship game, Seesholtz added 20 points and eight rebounds as the Cougars rolled past Asbury (Ky.) College 99-72. For the week, Seesholtz shot 57.9 percent from the field (11-for-19), 57.1 percent from three-point range (4-for-7), and 77.8 percent from the free throw line (7-for-9). He also recorded two assists and two steals. On the season, Seesholtz is averaging 13.4 points and a team-high 8.8 rebounds per game. He has also tallied four assists, one blocked shot, and nine steals. MVNU is currently 5-0 overall. The Cougars will return to action on Tuesday when the team will host Ohio Valley (W.V.) College in a non-conference game at 7:30 p.m.
