Three Lady Cougars Receive AMC South Division Hoops Honors

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s basketball team were recognized when the American Mideast Conference South Division awards were announced on Thursday afternoon.

Highlighting the list was Amy Sebastian, a freshman wing from Harrison, Ohio, who was an AMC South Division Honorable Mention pick in addition to being named to the five-person AMC South Division All-Freshmen Team. The former Landmark Christian Academy standout led MVNU in scoring (13.5 points per game) as she started all 27 games in her first collegiate season. Sebastian also recorded a team-high 60 steals to go with 61 assists and 129 rebounds. She shot 40.3 percent from the field (127-for-315), 26.7 percent from three-point range (23-for-86), and 62.1 percent at the free throw line (87-for-140).

Katie Keller, a sophomore guard from Prospect, Ohio, was also an AMC South Division Honorable Mention selection for the Lady Cougars. The former Elgin High School star averaged 11.9 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, and she was also second on the team with 73 assists, 51 steals, and 36 three-pointers made. Keller shot 36.8 percent from the field (111-for-302), 29.0 percent from three-point range (36-for-124), and 79.0 percent from the free throw line (64-for-81).

Erin Arnett, a junior center from Miamisburg, Ohio, was MVNU’s final AMC South Division Honorable Mention honoree. The former Miamisburg High School product averaged 11.7 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 51.3 percent from the field (119-for-232). Arnett also compiled 12 assists, 12 blocked shots, and 11 steals, and she shot 68.4 percent from the free throw line (78-for-114).

MVNU finished the season with a 7-20 overall record and a 3-15 mark in the AMC South Division.
