NewsCarrollton Volleyball Player Signs to Play at MVNUwritten by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s
volleyball team has signed another recruit for the 2005 season
with the addition of Anyssa Incerpi.
Incerpi, a 5-foot-4 defensive specialist/setter from Carrollton, Ohio, has decided to further her education and continue her volleyball career at MVNU. As a senior at Carrollton High School, she was named to the Northeastern Buckeye Conference First Team and the All-District First Team and led the NBC with 63 aces. As a junior, she was part of the sectional and district champion team that went 22-4, and she set school records with six aces in a game and 175 points in a season as a sophomore. "Our team is looking forward to Anyssa’s influence on our team,” said MVNU head coach Paul Swanson. "She is a breath of fresh air. Words that come to mind are energetic, skilled, athletic, and enthusiastic. She is a high quality person, student, and player. She will play mostly back row, but she can also help us as a setter. She comes from very competitive and quality high school and club programs. We feel fortunate to have Anyssa join the Lady Cougar volleyball program.” "There are several reasons why I chose MVNU,” said Incerpi of her college choice. "I like the Christian atmosphere and the campus at MVNU is really great. I am also excited to continue my education while playing volleyball in a very successful program.” MVNU posted a 34-14 overall record in 2004 and finished the year ranked 21st in the final NAIA national poll. The Lady Cougars also posted an 11-5 mark in the highly competitive American Mideast Conference South Division, won the AMC Tournament, and finished as the NAIA Region IX Tournament runner-up.
