NewsMVNU's Stevens Named NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americanwritten by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Amanda Stevens, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women’s volleyball team, was recently
selected as an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American for her efforts
during the 2004 season.
Stevens, a junior outside hitter from Mount Vernon, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars with 610 kills, 71 aces, and 717 digs. The former Centerburg High School star also posted 105 total blocks and set a new school record with a 95.8 serve reception percentage. In addition to earning NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors this season, Stevens was also selected to the American Mideast Conference South Division First Team, the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Team, the NAIA Region IX Team, and the NCCAA All-American First Team. She was also named to both the NAIA and NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athlete Teams. MVNU finished the season with a 34-14 overall record and an 11-5 mark in the AMC South Division. The Lady Cougars were also ranked 21st in the final NAIA national poll.
