NewsMVNU's Wilson Receives Player of the Week Honorswritten by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Krysti Wilson, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women's soccer team, has been selected as the
American Mideast Conference Defender of the Week and the NAIA
Region IX Player of the Week for her performance during the week
of September 14-20.
Wilson, a freshman goalkeeper from Sunbury, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a pair of victories during the week as MVNU extended its winning streak to eight straight matches. In a 2-0 victory over the College of Wooster, the former Big Walnut High School star stopped eight shots to set a new single-season school record with her seventh shutout of the year. Then, in a 5-0 win at Shawnee State University, Wilson posted 10 saves and registered her eighth shutout of the season to become the school's career leader in that category. On the season, Wilson has allowed just one goal in nine matches and leads the American Mideast Conference with a 0.11 goals against average. MVNU is currently 9-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in AMC South Division play. The Lady Cougars will return to action on Saturday when they will host Cumberland (Ky.) College at 3:00 p.m. in a non-conference match.
