MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - For the second time already this season,
Katey Percival, a member of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University
women's volleyball team, has been selected as the American Mideast
Conference and NAIA Region IX Setter of the Week.
Percival, a junior from Elyria, Ohio, was honored this time for the week of September 14-20 as she helped lead the Lady Cougars to a 4-1 record for the week. The former All-Ohioan at Amherst Steele High School averaged 12.24 assists per game for the week and compiled 46 digs, 11 kills, and 10 aces. She also became only the sixth player in school history to reach the 3,000-assist mark in a win over Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College. For the season, Percival leads the AMC by averaging 11.83 assists per game. She also ranks among the conference leaders in aces per game (0.51). In addition, she has compiled 55 kills, 24 blocks, and 132 digs. MVNU is currently 16-2 overall and 2-1 in the AMC South Division. The Lady Cougars will return to action on Friday and Saturday when the team will take part in the four-team King (Tenn.) College Tornado Challenge.
