MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Jessica Harding, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women's volleyball team, has been selected as
the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the
Week for her performance during the week of September 22-28.
Harding, a 5-foot-11 senior outside hitter from New Philadelphia, Ohio, led the Lady Cougars to a 4-1 record for the week that included winning the four-team King (Tenn.) College Tournament. She pounded 55 kills in 15 games for the week for a 3.67 kills per game average. The former All-Ohioan at Garaway High School also compiled nine digs, eight blocks, and two assists. On the season, Harding has recorded 182 kills, 36 blocks, and 44 digs. She is second on the team with a 3.03 kills per game average, and she has posted a .293 attack percentage. She is also closing in on the 1,000-kill mark for her career. MVNU is currently 19-4 overall and ranked 25th in the latest NAIA national poll. The Lady Cougars are also 2-2 in the American Mideast Conference South Division. The team will return to action on Saturday when MVNU travels to the University of Rio Grande for an AMC South Division tri-match. The Lady Cougars will take on the host Redwomen at 11:00 a.m. and then play AMC South-leading Cedarville University at 1:00 p.m.
