NewsThree Lady Cougars Earn AMC South Division Honorswritten by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team were honored when the American Mideast Conference South Division awards were announced on Thursday.
Katey Percival, a junior setter from Elyria, Ohio, was named to the AMC South Division First Team for the second straight year. The former All-Ohioan at Amherst Steele High School is among the AMC leaders as she has averaged 12.05 assists per game. Percival has also contributed 109 kills, 70 blocks, 43 aces, and 340 digs. Amanda Stevens, a sophomore outside hitter from Mount Vernon, Ohio, was named to the AMC South Division Second Team. The former All-Ohioan at Centerburg High School leads the Lady Cougars in kills per game (3.60) and digs per game (3.79). She has also contributed 70 blocks and 30 aces. Carrie Mason, a senior middle hitter from Fredericktown, Ohio, was an AMC South Division Honorable Mention pick. The former All-Ohioan at Fredericktown High School has compiled 402 kills, 103 blocks, 58 assists, 42 aces, and 212 digs. MVNU is currently 32-8 overall. The Lady Cougars will face Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College (22-13) in the first round of the 12-team AMC Tournament at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Walsh University.
