NewsMVNU Soccer Player Named to Academic All-District Teamwritten by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Nate Sommers, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University men's soccer team, has been selected to the
CoSIDA Academic All-District IV College Division Second Team.
Sommers, a junior forward from Mount Gilead, Ohio, leads the Cougars with 12 goals this season and ranks second on the team with four assists. The former Mansfield Christian High School star has also moved into fourth place on the school's career goals list with 36. In the classroom, Sommers has compiled a 3.717 grade point average as a Physical Education major. MVNU is currently 13-4-1 overall as the Cougars head into postseason play. MVNU is waiting to see who and where the team will play in the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Tournament next weekend. The Academic All-District IV College Division Teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. Eligible student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 grade point average and be at least in their sophomore year. The District IV College Division is made up of NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.
