MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Catherine Hess, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women's soccer team, has been selected as the
National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the Week
for November 3-9.
Hess, a junior forward from Hillsboro, Ohio, was honored for the third time this year and the second week in a row after leading the Lady Cougars to a 3-0 victory over Geneva (Pa.) College in the first round of the American Mideast Conference/NAIA Region IX Tournament. The former Hillsboro High School star scored two goals in the victory for MVNU. On the season, Hess has scored a career-high 16 goals. She has also registered a school-record 13 assists and ranks second on the team with 45 points. The Lady Cougars are currently 17-2-1 overall. MVNU will travel to Houghton (N.Y.) College for the NAIA Region IX Final Four this weekend. The Lady Cougars will take on Malone College in the semifinals at 4:00 p.m. The winner will advance to championship match to face the winner of the match between Houghton and Tiffin University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
