MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Andy Dunn, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University men's basketball team, has been selected as
the National Christian College Athletic Association Player of the
Week for his performance during the week of November 17-23.
Dunn, a senior guard from Hamilton, Ohio, led the Cougars to a 2-1 record for the week as he averaged 21.0 points and 2.7 assists per game. The former Lakota West High School standout shot 44.2 percent from the field (19-of-43), 43.8 percent from three-point range (14-of-32), and was a perfect 11-for-11 at the charity stripe. He also added seven rebounds and five steals. Dunn began the week with a game-high 24 points, four rebounds, and three assists in a 77-69 victory at previously unbeaten Seton Hill (Pa.) University. He added 19 points, four assists, and three rebounds in a 76-59 win at La Sierra (Calif.) University. Then, he closed out the week with 20 points and three steals in an 84-65 loss at Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University, who was ranked 16th in the NAIA Division I preseason poll. On the season, Dunn leads MVNU in scoring with an 18.6 points per game average. He has also nailed a team-high 33 three-pointers to go with 23 assists, 11 steals, and 13 rebounds. Dunn is shooting 39.7 percent from the field (46-of-116), 39.8 percent from three-point range (33-of-83), and a team-best 92.3 percent at the charity stripe (24-of-26). The Cougars are currently 5-3 overall as the team heads to the Thanksgiving break. MVNU will return to action on December 5-6 when the team will host the tenth annual Food for the Hungry Holiday Invitational. The Cougars will face Madonna (Mich.) University on December 5 at 8:00 p.m. and either Defiance College or Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College at 3:00 p.m. on December 6.
