MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Heather Clark, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University women’s fastpitch softball team, was
recently selected as the National Christian College Athletic
Association Player of the Week for her performance during the week
of April 19-25.
Clark, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Oxford, Ohio, posted a 4-1 record with one save and a 1.51 ERA as the Lady Cougars went 8-2 for the week and won the NCCAA East Region title. The former Talawanda High School standout posted victories over Shawnee State University, Notre Dame College, Malone College, and Geneva (Pa.) College. She also recorded a save against Malone. In 37 innings of work, she struck out 24 batters and issued just seven walks. On the season, Clark has posted a 13-8 record on the mound with a 1.82 ERA. She has two saves and two shutouts, and she has struck out 82 batters in 149 2/3 innings of work. Opposing batters are hitting just .239 against her. MVNU finished the regular season with a 23-15 mark and tied for fourth place in the American Mideast Conference South Division with an 8-6 record. The Lady Cougars will travel to Tiffin University for an AMC Tournament best-of-three series that begins with two games on Thursday. The first game is slated to start at 3:30 p.m.
