NewsThree Lady Cougars Earn NCCAA East Region Honorswritten by Dave Parsons, Sports Information Director MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Three members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team were recognized when the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region awards were released on Thursday.
Susan Adams, a 5-foot-9 senior forward from Cardington, Ohio, was selected to the NCCAA East Region First Team. The former Cardington High School standout led the Lady Cougars in scoring (16.5 points per game) and rebounding (7.6 rebounds per game) as she finished third at MVNU in both career points and rebounds. Adams also recorded 66 assists and a team-high 54 steals while shooting 47.5 percent from the field (189-for-398) and 70.6 percent at the free throw line (72-for-102). Katie Keller, a 5-foot-5 freshman guard from Prospect, Ohio, was named to the NCCAA East Region Second Team. The former Elgin High School star averaged 14.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in her first collegiate season. Keller also led the Lady Cougars with 66 three-pointers made as she shot 36.3 percent from beyond the arc (66-for-182). She also registered 75 assists and 53 steals while shooting 73.3 percent at the charity stripe (66-for-90). Erin Arnett, a 6-foot-1 sophomore center from Miamisburg, Ohio, was an NCCAA East Region Honorable Mention pick. The former Miamisburg High School product averaged 8.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Arnett also recorded 15 assists, 10 blocked shots, and 26 steals. MVNU finished the year with a 7-22 overall record and a 2-16 mark in the AMC South Division.
