MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Andy Dunn, a member of the Mount Vernon
Nazarene University men's basketball team, was selected to the
NAIA Division II Honorable Mention All-American Team when the
teams were announced on Tuesday evening prior to the national
championship game.
Dunn, a 6-foot-1 senior guard from Hamilton, Ohio, ranks among the scoring leaders in NAIA Division II with a 20.2 points per game average. He also is among the leaders in free throw percentage at 92.4 percent (109-for-118), and he leads the nation with 137 three-pointers made. In addition, the former Lakota West High School standout has recorded 71 assists and 29 steals. Earlier this season, Dunn became the 26th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. Dunn and the Cougars will take their 21-12 record into the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament beginning on Thursday. MVNU is the third seed in the eight-team event that will be held in Frankfort, Kentucky. The Cougars, who won the 2002 NCCAA national title, will face sixth-seeded Central Baptist (Ark.) College at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The semifinals will take place on Friday at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. with the national championship game to be played at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
